Apple, It’s Time! We Need Better Parental Controls!

Do You Want Apple To Build Better Parental Controls to Protect Our Kids?

Raising children in this Digital Age is incredibly challenging for parents. 78% of teens now have iPhones, and 48% of parents say that regulating their child’s screen time is a “constant battle” (as reported by the American Psychological Association).
We strongly believe that Apple should be doing more to support parents and protect children. We have spent 100+ hours delving deep into Apple’s existing parental controls to fully understand the issues, and estimate that it would take 119 steps for the first device and 71 steps for every additional device thereafter.
Apple’s shareholders, Jana Partners and CALSTRS, have called for more accountability, and we completely agree that Apple needs to substantially overhaul its parental controls. It’s time to make our voices heard and let Apple know how strongly we feel. Please join us in Being the Change We Want To See, and take our poll above:

About Heard It From A Friend

Heard It From A Friend is a member-based news and education service for women who want to keep up with technology. Our mission is to create more community and collaboration around running the “Family Business” with a focus on how to use technology to be more efficient, and how to manage devices for children. Now in addition to playing the role of CEO of the household, many women are also serving as the Chief Technology Officer. Today, women are still largely under-represented in the world of technology.

Heard It From A Friend aims to bridge the gap by focusing on what women need to know to “Be In The Know” and giving women a voice to advocate for the technology they and their families need. Our goal is to help you Boost Your Tech Savvy, and since showing is always better than telling, we’re serving up short video vignettes in the form of Tech Tips. We hope you always learn something new, and we love giving Our Friends a Heard It From A Friend “HIFAF” (high-five).

You’re Invited!

We need to socialize technology to make it stick—let’s keep the conversation going!
