How Can I See What My Child is Watching on YouTube?
The best way to monitor what your child is watching on YouTube is to make sure that your child has his or her own Gmail account and is logged in under their account everywhere that they access YouTube. You can then easily review their viewing history by logging into their account from the convenience of your phone or laptop.
It’s easiest to toggle between accounts on a laptop. Here are the steps to review what your child is watching:
- Log in to your child’s account.
- On Top left, click on menu
- Select History and now you will be able to see what your kids are watching.
We also recommend turning on Restricted Mode which helps to filter out inappropriate content. Click on your child’s YouTube profile picture and listed at the very bottom is Restricted Mode. Toggle on to activate.
To view which videos your child is watching, log into your child’s account from the YouTube app on your phone:
- Tap your child’s profile
- Tap Settings
- Scroll down until you see Manage all activity and tap
From within Settings, you can activate Restricted Mode by toggling it on.
We also recommend turning off Autoplay which you can do by playing any video. Look for Up Next to locate the toggle and turn off AutoPlay.
